New Twitter and Youtube acounts

I've decided I'd like to get a little more active on the Squirrel Awareness front. Here's the new Twitter Account: Squirrel Awareness I will show the Youtube account once I've made my first video. I plan on making weekly videos of the squirrels in my yard.

I haven't posted here in quite some time. I have to admit, I have been rather slack in my squirrel observations. However, I did see what appeared to be mating activity of fox squirrels near my house. I am now an intern until August at the Audubon center in Dallas. I haven't yet seen any squirrels there, but I will try to remember to post if I do. I will be making a new blog featuring my pets, since that is what is occupying much of my time.

Backpacking in the Pecos Wilderness

I just got back from a backpacking trip in the Pecos Wilderness in northern New Mexico. I saw my very first marmot, which was most likely a yellow-bellied marmot (Marmota flaviventris). I also saw some golden-mantled ground squirrels, red squirrels, and Least and Colorado chipmunks.

Pictured below are a golden-mantled ground squirrel and a least chipmunk, two of the most common mammals in the Pecos Wilderness.
